We had about 3 pretty good weeks with Kaiser after I posted that he was failing. Over the past few days he was acting not quite like himself, but nothing major. Yesterday he didn't eat his dinner and when our doorbell rang, he tried to jump up off his bed to go greet whoever it was, cried out in pain and laid back down. A few hours later I got him to go outside, but once outside, his back legs just collapsed and he was unable to get up. He tried and we tried to help him, but it wasn't meant to be. The look in his eye was telling us he had had enough and was unable to fight anymore. Our vet came to our house last night around 11:00 and Kaiser crossed peacefully over the bridge shortly after.

I can't believe he's gone. Those 11 1/2 years flew by. He was such a gentle giant and such a good boy. The house is so eerily quiet without him, but I know he is out of pain. My head knows we did the right thing, now I have to wait for my heart to catch up.

Run free my boy. We love you and we will see you again some day. frown
