There used to be a pit bull ban in Ashtabula, Ohio. But they changed it so that you can have them, but only if you get them from a shelter. That might be ok, if we had a shelter with a budget for training and experienced evaluators, but out shelter is privately owned, and run by volunteers. It has a board for running it, that seems to have a lot tension. And, the last time I was there donating dog food, the smell nearly knocked me out.

So, I do not thing the people getting their pit bull from the shelter are any more likely to get one that has a good temperament, than from any breeder out there.
