Thinking of you and Chey. Sending warmest wishes. Chippy dares to offer a gentle whiskered kiss to Granny Chey.

*Taps her fingers* *waits impatiently* MARY ANN! We are waiting on an update! *grin* No rush. *grin* I hope all is going well for Cheyenne and am scared for her. I imagine she can't be very comfortable with people poking her about down there. *Fingers crossed* that no news is good news.

Wow...just got home!!
Let me just say...this Internist if fabulous!!!
Cheyenne had quite a hard day...and is now sporting a cut like Mila...although not as provocative as hers...lol.

First we discussed her entire story. There was concern about her hw status and some confusion...which I confess...I had as well. While blood work done twice by my vet said negative...I found it very hard to believe that really...all those adults were gone?? that fast?? Internist also said it was odd...and that it usually takes 2 years to be totally gone. Since we had seen some enlargement on the right side of her heart on x-ray and that's where hw's live...she went on a hw hunt. Miraculously...NO HEARTWORMS. So...we can only conclude that the shots she had before she came to me sped up the killing process!! So...we are definitely hw free!!

She did want a chest x-ray in a new position...lying on her back...which caused Cheyenne to become stressed and turn blue.

Echocardiogram-NORMAL HEART FUNCTION AND CHAMBER SIZE; NO HEARTWORMS VISIBLE IN RA OR PULMONARY ARTERY!! (WOW-EXCELLENT EXCELLENT NEWS)

Chest x-ray-Consolidation in area of rt middle lung lobe;vessels enlarged and somewhat truncated. (BOO)
po2 (oxygen test) 92% on room air - should be 99-100% (said if she was a human she'd be on oxygen...although obviously things were exacerbated by her being stressed from the x-ray) I did tell her that she never turns blue for me...and breathing is not always labored as it was for the x-ray.

Physical exam-(will just post pertinent)-Severely harsh lung sounds in all lung fields.
Grapefruit size firm mass right caudal MG, pedunculated

Diagnosis (I'll just post pertinent) Abnormal lung sounds on exam. Fortunately we do not see adult hw on her echo. Possible causes of her loud lung sounds include lung inflammation or scarring/fibrosis secondary to the past infection. She became stressed and had some difficulty breathing when x-rays were taken, she was not able to attain normal oxygen levels at this time on room air. We would like to review all her past records before making definitive recommendations for anesthesia.
(I had asked my vet to make sure all past films and chart had been sent...but obviously they weren't)
We will ask for the original x-rays and records and will call when I put this all together.
Dr. also wrote in big letters - CHEYENNE WAS A VERY GOOD PATIENT!!

Oh...she said right now her tumor is "silent" (that's good)...and again said no spread or involvement anywhere else. She did add another worry to my list...pyrometria.

Oh...we were put on Amoxicillin in the event this is an infection contributing to her lung changes.

So..good news...bad news...and I'll have to sit and wait for her call. We were told not to cancel her surgery appt..........

hope this isn't a big jumble...it was so much to take in.

p.s. I believe she said that she doesn't have heart enlargement...that it was positioning on the x-ray that was misleading. I took away from this...that we have a pretty normal heart.

Good new - Bad news is still way way better than Bad News - Bad News. We will take what ever good we can get. I think it is a positive at this point that they don't want you to cancel her surgery date.

Finger crossed and sending healing vibes to Cheyenne.
