Some of you may remember Cheyenne...pulled by Southern Cross from Douglas County, GA a few months ago. Sadly...she is a very sick girl...and not adoptable at this we have taken her in as a long term...probably forever foster for Southern Cross.

She is very sweet!! My kids call her Granny Chey. She and Ava get along great. It's been a little rough going...and poor Chey is totally overwhelmed. It's been a battle to get her out of her crate (although she will come out for my kids much easier) ...and even bigger battle to get her to walk on my hardwood floors. In the day...I shut her off from the crate...and she stays out in our main living area...but is afraid to leave her safety zone...her blanket. She really wants to...and has made the scarey trek on her own come out and join me on the porch. We're taking baby steps. She is alert, loves food, LOVES my kids and is starting to give kisses. Sweet is the best word to describe her.

Her health issues are of much more concern. She is high HW positive and what may be advanced mammary gland cancer. She also has skin issues and chronic ear infections. Her breathing is horrible.
We have a vet appt. tomorrow to plot out a good course of action.

Meet Granny Chey...and keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you Southern Cross for seeing the worth in this sweet old soul.

Cheyenne is looking to celebrate the New Year!

Oh Mary Ann, one of the first things I noticed were the pictures in her crate. Your kids are amazing... wub They'll be the best thing in the world for bringing her out of her shell. Kids just have a way with dogs...

I'm hoping that Granny Chey can feel better physically soon - sounds like she has a long road ahead of her. She's beautiful and couldn't be in a better place to thrive!

Oh my her coat looks horrid, poor girl. I hope the vet can give some answers and help her be comfortable for whatever time she has and hoping it is a long while yet.

Mary Ann - you are the hope we see in her eyes. The joy will burst forth soon, and then you and she will know she's home.

Yes love the pics hanging in the cage. I love "dog kids" my neices & nephews also have that way with dogs.
Granny Chey angel looks like a sweety.
Ava looks like she wants to help show Granny the ropes & I hope you are able to get her health back on track.
Good luck with her!

Journeys are best enjoyed with baby steps so be sure to take your time.

I just love the pictures in her crate and I'm sure your kids will help her to enjoy her days. Ava looks wonderful as well.

And yes, she is another great save by Molly and Southern Cross. Many thanks.

aww...thanks guys. She looks sooo old in person...she obviously had a very tough life. She is only 8...but seems much older. Her breathing really concerns it's not only on exersion..but on and off all the gets very labored and loud at's very sad (and I'll admit...scares me...and panics me a little)

She cowers when you pet her and doesn't like loud voices.

LOL...Kris..yes...Mary made pictures for her to cheer her up smile

Lifeasme- That was Ava's "MOM...enough with the old ladies...can't you find me someone to play with? geez..."
Ava tried playbowing...but no Chey did give her a snap when she was running around too much. Another old lady reprimanding Mya used to do. She's again...

But seriously...they like eachother..and give eachother kisses....they have both been gems!

The pictures of Granny Chey in the comfy crate surrounded by blankets, pillows, and the pictures created by your sweet children brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for taking her in. I hope that she can recover from her ailments and that they are wrong about the cancer. She looks like she will have a good home with you no matter how much time she has left.
