Took Cooper to the vet again today as he has an egg on his right elbow and the left is a bit eggy. I was worried it could be a reaction still (I am sure I have read that swollen joints is a side effect). Cooper is not bothered by it even when I applied pressure.

Anywhoo the vet is fairly sure they are as a result from his elbows taking a knock. I do know that when I feed him and say crate, he races in there and the other day he slipped.

Keep an eye on it and if it doesn't start to subside, a fine needle aspirate will be done.

Pics frown

Left which is nowhere as bad

Would this be a case for Traumeel?

I don't know anything about traumeel so I looked it up and it seems pretty safe for most dogs unless they are sensitive to botanicals in the compositae family (like echinacea???) so it probably won't hurt him. It does looks painful even though you said it isn't for him. Would it be worth contacting the breeder to see if he has any experience with something like this?

Ouch!!! Poor Cooper! I'm glad it doesn't seem to be bothering him, but gosh I'm surprised that a hard landing would cause this. frown Niko took more than a few spills (plus as a puppy he had a really hard Down) and never had this develop. I hope he gets back to normal soon!

Poor Cooper - hope he feels better soon.

I've never used Traumeel, but Arnica could be used as well for this.

That...looks...weird.

Fluid?

And of course I had to google and google image swollen elbow joint puppy and found links to things. But if it's not painful...right, it shouldn't be bad?

His coat is so soft you can really see that egg. From the picture, it does look spherical, like Jean mentioned fluid filling some pocket.

I sure don't know but I certainly hope it's nothing and goes away.

What a cute boy!!

Here I go with my people comparisons again, but if Cooper was a human, his right elbow looks like olecranon bursitis. It's an inflammation of the fluid sac (bursa) that is normally at the elbow and can be from hitting it, or sometimes it happens for no reason. I don't think it's particularly painful in people - just looks weird. crazy Not sure if dogs get that or not, but I would think it's possible - might be called something else though.
