From the sticky thread:

Nutritional Consults

(her nutrition group, discusses all kinds of diets, including cooked and raw)

Balance-It Website
http://www.balanceit.com/

Does anyone have any others they have used with success.

This is for a dog with a chronic health condition (lymphoedema - congenital - no lymph nodes in the back legs) and on websites and at Cornell they say natural, allergen free (? I am guessing "clean") foods that are high protein, high carb...on people websites they indicate fiber might help - but who knows what translates to dogs. http://www.lymph.com.au/webcontent4.htm

In people:
Quote:
The first objective for diet is to strengthen and improve lymphatic function.

The second objective is to improve the function, strength and health of blood vessels. Both the lymphatic system and blood circulatory system may assist in oedema control and swelling reduction.

Thirdly, a diet for lymphoedema should include foods that have potential to maintain high levels of macrophage (scavenger cell) activity. Macrophages dissolve or eat excess protein contained in interstitial fluid (body tissue fluids). Excess protein trapped in body tissue fluids are the cause of all lymphoedema.

(then #4 is taste which...this dog will eat smile

But like I said, different GI systems.

Even thinking hot and cold stuff...not sure what that would be, but would be interesting.

So looking at home cooking as a possibility and looking for a safe and research based choice for her.

This is Reva - sometime her old lady leg pics will be up to see: http://s1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc509/pickadilee2/Riva/

I'll send this to her foster mom. smile

Thanks!

Just a quick post - don't have time to read your other links right now, but Sabine is who I used when Max was sick and I always go to her for questions I don't have answers to. .

What a cutie smile

I will say when I asked Sabine about a diet for PLE she had some recommendations right away. One of those was using coconut oil, something about that type of oil stimulating moving through the lymphs.

The circulatory systems and blood vessels might be done through some key supplements. Off the top of my head, I would look into vit C, rutin, etc.

Vitamin B12 is very important for stagnant lymph nodes.

Oh, I would hesitate to go high carb without some serious homework.
