Thanks all!
And you're all right, there are many things it could be but I'm glad someone did steer me in the direction of CES, that got me back to thinking back rather than knee.

He had a good night once he settles in he's fine. The hard part (for me) is that I will now not encourage him to get up and he's reluctant to. So when I leave this room he'll stay behind frown and I seem to have this need to have him glued to my side

Don't know if I mentioned it anywhere, but tick disease, toxo, neospora might also be on the radar.

I understand how hard it is to not have your shadow too!

Hi Barb,

So sorry that Dante is feeling this pain! Rafi has hurt his back twice. Both times he was in so much pain that he was shaking at times. frown The first time I was here and was able to take him the next morning to a chiropractor. He did laser therapy and that helped immensely. The second time was this past summer at the cottage. I had nowhere to take him so I did some energy work and was able to feel with my hands where the problem was and work that area. It was amazing how well that worked -- he was back to himself within hours. When I got home I took him in for acupuncture.

I think getting more testing done and seeing a specialist is great but don't be afraid to feel around quietly (feel for stuck energy which can be heat or tension in the muscle or even the fur) to try and figure out where the problem is. smile

Thank you ladies smile

Last night's update:
Dante Update:
I talked to the vet this afternoon and he agreed that the next step should be for him to see a Neurologist.
So he's going to call and leave a message (They're closed on Sundays) and fax over Dante's blood work, radiologist report and his report and email the x-rays and I'm to call first thing in the morning.
I have my fingers crossed that he can be seen very soon. Dante seems less stable today on his right hind than before and he's also much much less active.
I however feel slightly better because I have my next step, I feel less helpless when I know there is action coming.
Thank you again everyone for your kind words, thoughts and assistance as I face this journey with my old man!

Hello, Barb
I joined the forum because I read your post about cauda equina and wanted to chime in. I had a Husky who has it, same exact onset as your guy. I took him to the vet that night, and he did some manipulation which resulted in Mike not screaming every time he moved (thankfully), then we did ice, Rimadyl and crate rest for three days after which time he had improved and luckily never relapsed. I never sledded him after that, though, and that made him VERY unhappy. The vet told me long-backed dogs are prone (which makes sense). Mike did not have any neurological issues except for the pain, so we were very lucky.
Good luck!
