Hey guys smile

We are approaching the seriously cold weather here in Canada and there may be times that Ronin and I won't be able to go outside much because it's too cold for either of us for long periods of time. (Case and point that tomorrow is supposed to go down to -35 degrees Celsius here) So I was thinking that I should see about teaching Ronin a job or a task that would work his mind and give him something to do while we're cooped up inside. I was thinking something along the lines of teaching him to help with chores. I've seen a lot of videos of dogs helping with laundry, vacuuming and putting dishes in the dish washer. I just don't know where to start or how to do it.

I am thinking of starting with teaching him how to help with the laundry first by putting it in the washer for me or the basket. Any suggestions on how to go about doing that?

The nearest I've got is one that as a puppy would do alterations on clothing (actually two that as puppies would do alterations on clothing.) Now they will clean the dishes but as I don't have a dishwasher, loading it's out.

I would guess that for training loading the laundry (if you have a front loader), take the clothes bin and dog and a pocket of treats to the washer. Show him what you want and reward when it works right. I think mine would be more inclined to pull the clothes out of the washer.

OK so I am no help at all.... wink

probably too simple for a GSD: at the end of the day, can Ronin pick up his toys and put them into a hamper or basket?

Mary Jane-No. lol he's more interested in taking them out. I'm trying to teach him to put them away but he's just not able to focus on doing it and then he runs and thinks it'll make me chase him. Which is doesn't. We're working on it though smile
