Hi I was wondering I still am not sure if my gsd can have chicken. When I try dog food with chicken he does fine and when I increase the amount it doesn't go well.

Maybe it's time to have the vet do allergy testing. The tests are much better than they used to be for food intolerance.

The concern is he may have no allergy at all, or not a protein allergy. It could be some minor ingredient in the foods, or none.

At this point, you are changing foods too often to get a true idea of what issue he has, if any.

Just a thought.

Totally agree with Bonnie. I know you want him to feel better, but you have to make a plan and stick with it for a while. Food changes can take a long time (at least 30 days) to make a difference.

Lots of dogs' stool get loose when we over-feed them.

I have never fed pro-plan, but my trainer who breeds and shows Leonbergers, uses it as her go-to. She will try other foods, and then back to pro-plan. Her dogs are champions and always look good condition-wise. A leonberger is a dog that if you can get them to six, you can get them to ten, usually. As a breed though, they have some health concerns, huge dogs. So, my guess is that the food must be ok for her to have as much luck on it as she has had.

Thanks a lot for letting me know about Pro plan. I did not want to feed it, as I usually go high end foods however, my husband wanted to feed it. Keeping fingers crossed. It makes me feel better knowing the trainer you mentioned feeds it.
