Does anyone have any experience with this cancer? Treatment options? Testing? Costs associated with? Remission?

Thanks!

Hi LaM, sorry you or someone you know is dealing with this.

I have no experience, though i've thought a bit about lymphoma since that is a big risk factor for jazz here. I don't have an appreciation for the differences between the blood cancers.

The first thing on my list would be to run a trial of doxycycline for two reasons. The first is that some of these tick diseases will mimic a blood cancer even when the tests are negative. I mean, there were dogs on the tick list with a history of TBD that developed lymphoma that went into remission when treated again with doxy. Another reason I try doxy is because it almost helps with anything, though I didn't find much on it when I quickly googled, but this: http://www.myelomabeacon.com/forum/antibiotics-to-kill-cancer-stem-cells-t4894.html

I saw this (which you may have already seen): https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5405162/?report=classic
max was on IV vit C. It made him feel better. He still developed solid tumors from what is thought to be hemangio, but I would still consider it for a blood cancer because of how much better he felt, but I wouldn't hold super high hopes for it.

If you find something promising, please let us know.

From the health archives:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12486404 (doxy)

...and more on the infection and cancer angle, with a few notes written at the bottom:
http://germanshepherdhome.net/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/206775/Re:_Cancer/Lymphoma_and_Infect#Post206775
I was prompted to put all that together because of what seemed to be a lot of dogs on the tick list getting lymphoma.

Thanks Lisa. But this is not lymphoma. There are different markers for that cancer. Nothing in the blood work shows infection for this dog. This is either a specific auto immune disease or multiple myeloma.

It is a rare cancer in dogs so it's a long shot to find do anyone with personal experience with it.

You might, for fun, have a vitamin D test run. At least in humans it seems to have some relationship.

Thanks. Really just looking for personal experience with this disease. Many good vets involved in the testing and treatment.
