I'm so sorry to hear about Indy's problems, Lisa. You're always so helpful to everyone when we need it. We're all here for you right now and are hoping and praying that this is something minor that will be figured out soon and that Indy recovers soon from this. hugging

Oh no!!!!!! Poor, sweet Indy. It does not sound like KC but walking pneumonia is a good thought...

Can you steam her in the bathroom to help with the congestion?

I really hope you are able to figure out what's going on and get her some relief. I did have luck with this mixed homeopathic remedy for dog who had a cold: http://www.homeopet.com/noserelief.html

Thank you Jean and Val for the links. We didn't get to sleep until about 4:30, so just getting up now and assessing the situation.

She's sleeping so soundly that I haven't moved her. She slept soundly all through the night, except when she tried to move one time, her legs still collapsing. After that when she was laying down again, there was more drooly stuff from her mouth and she gagged up a tiny amount of stuff. Other than that, she appears restful.

The heart disease does not appear to be implicated - lungs sounded clear with stethoscope and xrays were very clear, and also did not show the type of enlargement that they would have if she were in CHF. Also, she is not panting at all, her respitory rate is low, as is her heart rate.

KC - it appears that this highly unlikely. I might have gone with that "air hunger" stumbly thing, but I don't think she would have been so restful if this were KC.

I thought about poisoning too, and was very concerned about that until about now. Seems less likely - seems like the nasuea and drool is associated with movement.

Can Vestibular Syndrome be this bad???

Thank you so much for all your well wishes. It's so upsetting when they are sick, and kinda scary with these mystery diseases.

Surprise, but thinking about getting her into the chiro asap, which is hard to schedule.

Yes, vestibular disease can be that bad. Will a medium webmaster harness fit Indy? Steel outgrew it. I can send it express mail tomorrow morning.

Vets do miss it in the early stages.

Poor Indy! Thinking of your family. I hope she feels better really soon. I would be terrified if this were happening to my dog so I can't imagine how you must be feeling frown

Thank you proudshepmom, I'm VERY concerned and worried.

Joanne, thank you so much for your gracious offer! It looks like Indy needs a small, so I just ordered her one from arcatapet - it will ship tomorrow, and they send 2 day mail. Still won't be here soon enough, but just in case I still need it, and good to have here in either case.

She is not gagging or hypersalivating unless moving, or I think if there is food in her stomach. I have four top contenders at this point:

-- an adjustment issue that a chiro can help with (appt at 4:20 today). Is it ironic that my left atlas on my neck is hurting like heck today??

-- toxicity of some sort, possibly drug induced or otherwise

-- stroke?

-- tumor frown

I am hoping that the chiro thing might be the most likely - she had an adjustment recently, and when she sits in the car on the way home with Max, she often contorts herself in weird ways, and it could have moved something in the wrong way. I used to take them separately, might have to again if this afternoon fixes this.

Think horses, not zebras, will be my mantra today.

Just reading this on Vestibular Syndrome:
http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_vestibular_disease.html

Didn't know it could be caused by Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.....

No eye rolling or head tilt (eye tilt though)....

The link above mentions inflammation of the nerves. Has anyone used an anti-inflammatory to treat Vestibular syndrome?

Oh dear, I am so sorry you and Indy are dealing with this! Sending healing vibes.

My dog is about the same age as Indy and was dxed with congestive heart failure a year ago. I mention this because his lungs still look clear on xrays. But he has a significant murmur that is getting worse and worse and they did a heart ultrasound to dx it. His only symptoms so far (and they say it is 'moderate' chf) are coughing (especially on exertion) and gagging a little like he is going to puke but he doesn't. And he is super tired from short walks or 5 minutes of fetching.

Anyway that is just one experience with congestive heart failure... if she has had an u/s of the heart or a murmur it could be at least part of the problem.
