Thanks everyone. I fluctuate tonight between complete despair and heartbreak, and anger and frustration because of the experience that I had. My brain is still trying to process it.

Indy has been gagging the 3 hours....with her throat/esophagus condition, it's very difficult for her....finally some rest now, after she gagged up the last of the friggin' Science Diet food that they fed her without knowing her diet or her allergies. I think this experience alone has halved the amount of time she has left. She is finally still, time for us to rest a bit tonight.

I was trying to get her some relief from the mucous and such. I told the vet that she had a bad reaction to the Cerenia and that it was an mdr1 drug. She said they would try a different one. I thought it would make her feel better. Turns out it's another mdr1 drug and she didn't even half the dose, she dosed in the regular dosage range. I got home and looked the drug up and saw it was mdr1 - called her about an hour ago to see about the dosage. After she told me, I even said to her, "what the f*?" Between the shot and the food (my dog hasn't eaten dog food in about a decade), I'm wondering if Indy will get past this visit, it has taken quite a toll. She's gagging again, sounds like the croup, but I'm afraid of it getting in the lungs.

Who gives a dog that is having a neurological crisis, the full dose of a drug that they can't handle neurologically even under the best of conditions? In what world does this makes sense/????

When I went there, I wanted a good blood draw, and to know about an intestnal obstruction. We'll get the blood results back tomorrow night. She didn't think that treating the digestive problem was worth it since I won't treat the big picture. (she essentially reiterated my refusal for testing when I talked to her tonight again). I told her that I can't begin to get her better if I can't get food into her. She even offered that they could put in a feeding tube, but she wouldn't do that for hospice care. Again, since I declined testing.

Indy's gagging again. How many different ways can a person's heart be broken?

Oh wow, oh wow I am so sorry. teary

How can they be sure it is a brain tumor? Yes I know the MRI would be needed for a firm diagnosis, but I would think they would offer more supportive care for both of you and honor your decisions. It sounds as if all they did was confirm some stuff you knew and stress you both more. mad

I hope you got some rest last night.

Hi Lisa,

I'm so sorry. Sending positive energy to you, Indy and Max. Having been there before with my animals I understand how upset you are about the vet visit. Try to let your anger go now and concentrate on loving Indy. hugging

I am so sorry - something I wish I would have done better/more is to sit quietly with them - I was so busy trying to do, I lost that they just like to be. The whole pack sends thoughts of peace to you both.
