This is not what I as wanting to see when I checked back in today. teary
I am so sorry for your loss. Big hugging to you and Max.

Please take care of yourself. Be there for Max and let Max be there for you. The first days after losing Bailey were so difficult for me and it was my boys that kept me going and keeping my days as normal as my "new" normal could be.
In time the memories of her last days will be replaced with the happy loving memories of her life with you.

Rest in peace Sweet Indy butterfly

I'm so sorry Lisa. I was not following this thread and didn't know how bad off she was. Karin sent me a PM to let me know she's gone. frown I know so well what you're going through, that's exactly how we felt when we got up that morning and found that Dena had died during the night. I also remember the exhaustion, I was so tired most of the time those 3 weeks that I felt hung over. We spent nearly 4 times as much as you did on vet bills, tests, and treatment and I would have spent double that if we could have saved her.

I enjoyed meeting Indy at the Fort Funston meet last year too, she was such a little cutie pie, especially next to all those big shepherds. I looked for a picture of her in my photobucket album but I didn't have anything anywhere near as good as the one Dave took that Karin already posted.

Someone told me that it is the morning when a new kind of darkness hits and she is right. Such a little girl, creating such a big hole. It is so QUIET, and even Max is being quiet. He didn't even stand up and put his paws on the bed to say g'morning when I woke, I had to call him over.

I have to grade exams that I've put off because Indy was so sick, this is really going to be tough. My mind won't think and process, and that's what I need to do for work. I will see how tomorrow goes. It is probably good for me to go to work, but I certainly won't be productive.

I have a framed picture of Indy with her best friend forever, a beagle, playing. He was lost to lymphoma awhile back. I brought out that picture and have placed so I will see it more regularly, trying to think of her running with him at the bridge, rather in those last days. I guess I can't force this process, but if that will help get past of the images of her death, where I feel like I failed her, then that is good. She did suffer, but there was the trade-off in the way she died. And without knowing what would happen, I had to give her the opportunity to get better.

Cassidy's Mom, I will never forget what you went through with Dena frown

I am going to get a shower and see what the day brings. I cannot express how helpful it is to have a community that understands what I am going through and is so helpful.

I am going to an animal communication seminar on the 16th. Wondering if I will be able to keep it together there. Wondering if it will help. Hopefully by then I will be much more stable.

Oh NO!!!!! teary

I just got home from Tulsa and dog showing and this was not what I wanted to see. I am so sorry Lisa. So sorry. At leas Indy passed with you by her side and not in a sterile kennel at the vet's.

Many hugs hugging hugging for you and Max and please know you were not far from my thoughts all weekend. I tried logging in on my phone yesterday and could not for some reason.

I know if there was more to do you would have done it, but each one of us has a specified number of days and there is all we can do. angel

Oh Lisa, I am so sorry you lost Indy. I never know what to say in this situation other than she was beautiful, she was so loved and she will be sorely missed. Grieving is a process, 5 stages and don't try to rush any of them.

Thank you Jenn, I think what you wrote is just right. It all helps.

I'm readying myself to face the pills and supplements to get them ready for the week for me and max.

I still go over and over and over about Indy's mystery. She died as she lived, with a mystery illness. Her entire life was such a careful balance, she taught me so much. But when they are seniors, it is so easy to throw that balance off, and so many systems intertwined, so the entire system is screwed. If it was the disease that damaged Indy's heart, then she died the say that the UCD vet said she would. But what if it was the fluids that did it to her? That easily could have been it? what if this was a jammed disk that she would ahve recovered? fatal infection? brain tumor? Not knowing is so hard....

I asked her, in that last day, what lessons she would teach me in death. I hope that acceptance and forgiveness is one.

Off to face cleaning out her supplements, then grading exams...how optimistic is that!!
