Cambridge MA bans the sale of pets - 08/08/17 10:35 PM

I wonder how this would affect breeders in MA? They make it sound like they will only allow sales thru Rescues and Shelters???

Or is this just stopping the sales through Pet Stores??

If the article is correct, they only allow sales through rescues and shelters.

I read it the same way. I will say that unless Cambridge has changed a lot, it is unlikely that there are many dog breeders in the city.

That's the way I was reading all the articles on this.

There used to be a pit bull ban in Ashtabula, Ohio. But they changed it so that you can have them, but only if you get them from a shelter. That might be ok, if we had a shelter with a budget for training and experienced evaluators, but out shelter is privately owned, and run by volunteers. It has a board for running it, that seems to have a lot tension. And, the last time I was there donating dog food, the smell nearly knocked me out.

So, I do not thing the people getting their pit bull from the shelter are any more likely to get one that has a good temperament, than from any breeder out there.
