Height and Weight for a 1 year old GSD - 04/21/10 03:28 PM

Just curious as to what other's height and weight was a 1 year old.

I finally got Stark to the vet for a weigh in and was spot on with my guess.

Stark is 1 year old, DDR x WGSL cross, stands 25.5" at the withers and is 80lbs right on.

Donovan isn't that tall yet, but he is 83# at 13 months. Working lines with a tiny bit of DDR.

My hairball is a midget compared to all of yours'. Had some issues with Gianna and her weight, so she is not 100% there yet. I measured her at 23 1/2 inches, and her weigh in yesterday had her at 56.5 pounds.

Karlo at 12 months was 27" and 89#, still see ribs. He got Gianna's growth gene!

Wow! Lots of variation. It must depend on gender, working lines, show lines, or, it might just be a mystery!

At 12 months Havoc was 26" and 73 pounds. At 2 months short of 3 he is 26.5 and 78 pounds. Very lean but very muscled as well.

Otto - 100% DDR - was 75lbs and 25" tall last may when he turned one. Last weigh in (22months) he was 83lbs and he has not gotten any taller.

Morgan - w german working was the same as Gianna at one - 23 1/2" tall and barely 55 lbs. She was wicked skinny. She's 9 this summer, only weighs 63lbs, not skinny skinny any more but she's thin.

I really don't want to! He dragged me down at training and then took the helper down. Though to be fair, the field isn't very level, but sheesh...
his shoulders with the sable coloring look so broad wub

Fenna is the largest bitch I have, at 74 pounds, but most of my Fidleco girls range between 58 to 68 pounds.
Frodo is 89 pounds, but I really think that is his neck and shoulder muscle, which are more developed because of his crummy hind end. (He will be 2 in June.)
I don't have inches for you though, sorry. Frodo at 89 lbs, towers over my girls, but he is by no means huge. (I would call him average....)

I don't think Stark is huge either, I like his size. He is a little closer to the high side of the average in height and I like how lean and muscled he is even though he hasn't filled out yet. I am hoping he stays close to this size as he matures, but we will see.

I always like comparing sizes to see if there is an average. Thanks everyone! smile

Trent, West German working lines

12 months old - 87.8 lbs - 26" to 27" at the withers

Now, 14 months - 91 lbs - 26" to 27" and up at the withers

He's very thick and deep chested with a tuck that is not very obvious, giving him the appearance of a chunky dog, but from above, it's apparent he's not overweight. Ribs can be easily felt, too.

Nikon was 24" and 70lbs at one year. Now he is 25" and I'd guess 75 lbs or a little more (18 months). Everyone says how HUGE he is but he doesn't seem huge compared to many of the height/weight posted. He looks big compared to Kenya b/c she is 22" and 50lbs. You can see Nikon's ribs, but he has a bigger head, more bone, and is more muscled.

Cody was about 66lbs at a year. Now he's between 80-85lbs and stands 25.5''.

Isa at a year was about 60lbs and 25''. Now she's 70lbs and 25.5''.

Not sure for Akbar because he wont stop growing and he's only 10 months, lol. I believe he might be between 95-100lbs when he's fully grown at maturity because he's about 90 now. He's a weed I tell ya!!

Having a look, I know its an old thread but think my lad is big. He has a covering on his ribs but mostly can't see them due to his incredibly thick double coat. Anyways I was amazed at the remarkable difference between him and his sister whom we also have. She is very svelte with a much finer shorter coat. She is 24 inches and 28 kg... He is 26 inches and 42kg.... So much loose skin still to be filled! =-O

welcome tarran

If you rub your hands along the ribs, can you feel them?
