Neck sizing for collar - 08/10/17 10:35 AM

I'm new to this group so if this has been posted I'll apologize now wink
I have a 6.5 month old beautiful girl, she wears a tracking collar since one of my kids almost let her get by him when he was leaving. She obviously has a lot of growing yet to do, she's outgrowing her collar and the company we purchased it from will allow a growing puppy a second collar free. They're pricy collars so I would like to have it be the right size for a full grown weight. Her parents weight 85 lbs and dad is 110, so I'm assuming she will be at least 85 lbs. Would someone mind measuring their dog to let me know neck size if your fur baby is in that ballpark for weight?

Welcome to the board.
It's good to "see" a new "face".

I'm not familiar with "tracking collar" but the fur-saver I use on my dogs measures 23 inches from far side of one ring to the far side of the other. My dogs weigh about 70 lbs. I suppose more than the weight, it's going to depend on the size of the head to slip a fur saver over. If you get one a bit large, you could use a carbiner clip to "shorten" it. (That's if your tracking collar is a "fur-saver" type large chain link collar).

If you are depending on a choke type collar (fur saver included) as a day to day leash, there are hazards associated with that.

My 85 pound male's neck measures about 20 inches. Most collars have adjustment room so I would look at something in the 20 inch range.

I think your tracking collar has a gps to tell you where she is.
