Chicago area trainers? - 05/15/15 10:01 AM

Hi all,

Does anyone have advice re: good trainers near Elk Grove Village, IL? It's a tad NW of Chicago.

Thanks much for any ideas!

I know someone that has shelties and herding dogs that lives in Chicago, would you like me to ask her if she knows of anyone?

I think AgilePaws knows of some. I hope she checks in, if not PM her.

This is the recommendation that I received: http://foryourk9.com/
They have a lot of classes in different things, and she knows someone that trains there, and they are very non-Cesar Milan smile

Interesting web site and training philosophy! I looked at the site noted above and found a bit of their approach.

"For Your K9's skilled professional trainers use training methods that emphasize compassion, communication and an appreciation of the dog's perspective. Good communication and mutual respect are key for the success of any relationship. We strive to help people develop good communication skills to enhance the dog/human relationship while having fun learning new skills in a calm, relaxed environment."

I know that my dog (a very pushy 7+yo male GSD) would really like that approach! Esp. about the "dogs perspective" stuff.

Not sure if this is close to you or not, but he is a wonderful PSA decoy and judge and also holds obedience classes. I have seen his videos, seen him decoy and judge and he is a wonderfully nice person (and super dog knowledgable!).

I've also heard good reports about the Lincolnwood Training Club but once again I would double check with Sandy, Agile Paws. http://www.ltcgsd.org/
